What aquatic insects are found in ponds?
1)mayfly larvae
mayfliesThey begin their life cycle in water, where the mother lays her eggs on the surface and they sink to or attach to a relatively calm surface, such as a plant leaf, tree trunk, or rock. 2) Dragonfly larvae
Like mayflies (and all the other species on this list that have "larvae" in the title), dragonflies begin life in water as eggs, which hatch into larvae, and then hatch into nymphs. Adults do not live in water per se, but are always found near fresh water, usually slow-flowing sources such as ponds near their original birthplace, and often land on the surface of the water to drink or hunt small prey.
Interestingly, both nymphs and adults have almost 360 degree vision, making them excellent predators. They usually eat other insects, small molluscs and crustaceans, and sometimes very small hatchlings (don't worry about this). , as they don't catch many fish and most are not big enough to eat fish).
