Selfie Posing Tip #1 – Full Body Selfie Poses
Greater power: various poses = endless
Weight: medium
Recommended equipment: mobile phone tripod + remote shutter
These are some of the most famous and impressive types of selfies - they usually show off a stunning destination you'd like to be in! What makes them so impressive is that the selfies are taken from a distance, so you can interact more with your surroundings.
The beauty of full-body selfies is that when you put your phone down, you can do almost anything. There are a million different selfie poses at your disposal, because when you don't have to worry about holding the camera, any pose will do.
How to take a full body selfie:
A full-body selfie starts with removing the camera/phone from your hand and setting up a tripod.
It's as easy as grabbing one of theseoveA great tripod for a cheap phoneWith Amazon's Remote Shutter, you can take photos remotely on your phone with the click of a small button that connects to your phone's Bluetooth. I actually bought this model and it's perfect for those wide angle lenses.
If you have a smartwatch like the Apple Watch, you can do it there too!
The most impressive way to take a full-body selfie is to connect a more modern wifi-enabled camera to your phone and use your phone to remotely snap a photo to the camera when you're ready.
Here's a quick guide to using an iPhone and Bluetooth remote shutter:
Selfie Posing Tip #2: Play with shapes
STRONGER: Add fun shapes and retouch the face
Secret power: Use your hands creatively to hide embarrassing facial features (acne, double chin, etc.)
Difficulty: Easy! Experiment to find the shape that works best for you
Whether you're taking a full-body selfie or a quick close-up selfie, an easy way to find tons of different poses is to simply play around with the shapes.
Something as simple as changing the position of the hands can create dozens of different looks.
Posture changes:Bend your arms in different directions from each other. Bend your arms and wrists. Use your hands, arms and fingers to frame or frame your face.
Hot tips:You can even use your hands to subtly hide a double chin or minimize other features
(Let's be real - acne happens to the best of us!)
Basic posture techniques:Take those hands off you!
This makes them slimmer, creates interesting shapes and emphasizes your curves.
The same postural trick applies to the legs!
When sitting for a photo, raise your feet slightly off the ground/chair. This will have the same effect on your feet as it does on your hands!
Selfie Pose Tip #3: Turn your body
MORE POWER: Show off your figure - more flattering!
Difficulty: Easy! Experiment to find the angle that works best for you
Just as bending your arms and legs to create shapes can add interest and variety to your selfie poses, tilting your body towards or away from the camera can give you many fresh perspectives.
One of the most common mistakes people make when posing for selfies is always looking directly into the camera! Not only will this instantly add variety to your photos, but it will also show off the natural shapes and curves of your body in a more flattering and interesting way.
Tips for modeling poses:
1 - Put weight on your rear hips to make your body look smaller.
2 - Put your weight on your front hips to enhance your curves.
3 - Cross your legs at the knees and instantly double your curves!
Experiment with pointing your body at the camera at different angles. First, face the selfie camera, then turn and turn 45 degrees, then 90 degrees, even away from the camera. Mixing up angles will give you different perspectives, showing off + emphasizing different body features.
–> Curve your face away from the camera to accentuate your profile
give a suggestion –>Tilt your face towards the light - this will avoid harsh shadows and create a more flattering effect
Selfie Pose Tip #4: Turn the camera around
More powerful: Use different angles to change the size and shape of the face and body
Difficulty: Very easy - but takes practice to master.
Changing the angle of your camera/phone is a very powerful technique for shaping your features!
For example, did you know that shooting from above can make your eyes look bigger and your jaw look smaller? This will make you look more innocent and childish.
Alternatively, shooting from a slightly lower position will accentuate your jawline and make your eyes appear smaller. This way you can look more confident, sexy or dominant.
Ruslana Gee (model) demonstrates this well in her video about selfie tricks that models use:
The same principle applies to full-body selfies.
Photos taken low to the ground will make your legs look longer. Photos taken from above will make you look shorter.
See how the camera angle affects the difference between these two models - the first photo is taken from a high angle looking down, the next from a low angle:
See how close the first model's legs look from this higher angle?
Most of the time, you'll find that wide-angle, full-body selfies look better from a lower angle.
The best way to find out what works best for you is to experiment with different camera angles yourself. Take pictures from many different angles to find what works best for you :)
Selfie Posing Tip #5: Mix up those expressions!
More power: When you master facial expressions, you'll look better in all photos (not just selfies)
Difficulty: Moderate. Keep practicing until you can say these phrases without looking at yourself for better results.
Just because you're taking a selfie, you have to make a duck face! Play around and mix up your expressions. The photographer has a famous saying: the soul is in the eyes. When taking close-up selfies, the expression in your photo is everything. There's a reason why one of the most important parts of learning to model is developing different expressions that you can switch between while shooting. So try different looks and be creative! For example, try to choose your expression to match the feelings of those around you. Or try the exact opposite. The sky really is the limit.
Here are some facial expression pose ideas to get you started:
Let out your funniest fake laugh (until you laugh at how crazy you sound!)
hug yourself and pretend you're cold
- think about something that makes you sad
- think about the things that make you angry
- imagine something that gives you a playground
Selfie face tips:
Move your chin forward and down a bit - this will give your jawline and neck more definition.
Don't forget to use your eyes!
It's perfectly fine to smile with your eyes. Or try squinting a little - it will add confidence to your expression.
relax your lips and slightly part your mouth
Selfie Posing Tip #6: Tilt your head!
MORE POWER: Makes all your poses more playful and natural.
Difficulty: Easy. Try this now!
Tilting your head is probably the easiest thing to change when taking a selfie, but no one ever does! Your head isn't naturally straight all the time - but when we take photos, all we do is look straight at the camera.
Tilting the head will be more natural and will add interest and angles to the photo. (that is, more forms!)
Try tilting your head in a way you normally wouldn't. You may be surprised when you find some new corners that will become yours!

More ideas for selfie poses:
Play with perspective!
Not all selfies have to be your face - play with different angles! Including your hands or feet in the photo can make the viewer feel like they are looking through your eyes.
Build props and interact with your environment
Try to think of ways you can connect with the surroundings in the photo. This will create a more cohesive, connected story.
Use movement and action!
Real life doesn't stand still - so don't feel like you have to be completely still in photos and selfies! Try to move - jump, dance, roll, spin, run - anything you can think of. This will add more life and interest to your footage.
Do something unexpected.
Adding something unexpected to your photos can make them interesting and unique. Something as simple as rotating a photo so your photo is upside down can draw attention and give your selfie a unique angle.
Important tips for posing for selfies
1 - Use your strengths!
In fact, we all have strengths and weaknesses. You'll get better results if you play to your strengths instead of trying to strike a specific selfie pose that doesn't suit your body or body type.
If you have a super curvy body, go for it. If you have a really lean, muscular body, go for it!
2 – Intentional photography
Take an extra second before you start and visualize the shot before you start. Think about what different angles might look good. Take several photos of different backgrounds to illustrate which poses suit the scene, then make adjustments. This will save you a lot of time in the long run, and you'll get better results than just diving in and taking a million photos, only to realize that your outfit completely clashes with the background, etc.
3 – Take lots of photos
Professional photographers and Instagram influencers take hundreds of photos of individual growers. Get a lot, experiment and try different variations. The secret to taking a good selfie is to honestly take a lot of them and find the ones that suit you. Find the right light, choose a backdrop and color scheme that complements your outfit, and experiment with different shapes, angles and expressions. The more you do it, the better you get.
Now you have new ideas to add to your selfie poses.
